Hi, I’m Roxanne, but you can call me Rox! :)
I’m the artist and designer behind Roxstar Design, where I bring creativity to life through art, branding, and murals.
I’ve always loved being creative with art and music. As a kid, I learned the piano and started writing my own songs, and I was always doodling in class or daydreaming about my next idea. Art has always been a huge passion of mine because I love the process of it and feeling accomplished after putting my heart and energy into something creative, no matter how it turns out. Art makes the world around us feel brighter and tells stories without words.
My creative journey has blended a love of music, sports, and thinking creatively. I started college studying architecture because I loved both math and art, but realized my real passion was graphic design and illustration, creating visuals that tell stories and build brands.
I started college at Harper Community College and ran and did a year of basketball there while earning my associate's in arts. During COVID I transferred to MIAD, but art classes were online due to the pandemic, which just wasn't the same as being in a studio with peers. I felt like it wasn't a fit due to the circumstances and decided to transfer to UW-Whitewater. There, I earned my Bachelor's in Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design and a minor in Marketing. As a warhawk, I competed in cross country and track while also working as a graphic designer at the University Center. It was a busy time filled with memories, meeting the best teammates and co-workers I could have asked for in a short time of 2 years there.
After college, I moved into designing packaging and displays for retail brands, social media graphics for small businesses, while still working seasonally at a popcorn shop. I’ve had the chance to collaborate with clients across industries, from a cannabis brand to a dog collar company, and even co-founded a mural business called Girls Gone Painting while in Florida before returning to the Midwest.
Now through Roxstar Design, I get to bring all of that experience together, combining my fine art skills with my graphic design and marketing experience, to complete effective creative projects for businesses and individual clients.
When I’m not creating art and designing something, you’ll probably find me hanging with my dog Vinny Van Gogh, running, painting, playing volleyball or basketball, or discovering a new coffee shop or brewery.
Art, people, nature, and faith keep me inspired, and I’m always creating something new.
Thanks for reading and feel free to reach out and say hello!
